Product description

Prednisolone is a synthetic analogue of the adrenal cortex secreted by the hormones cortisone and hydrocortisone. Prednisolone is 4-5 times more active than cortisone and 3-4 times as compared with hydrocortisone when administered orally. Unlike cortisone and hydrocortisone, prednisolone does not cause a noticeable delay in sodium and water, and only slightly increases the release of potassium. The drug has a pronounced anti-inflammatory, antiallergic, antiexudative, anti-shock, antitoxic effect.

Indications

• Collagenosis, rheumatism, infectious nonspecific polyarthritis (inflammation of several joints), bronchial asthma, acute lymphoblastic and myeloblastic leukemia (malignant blood tumor originating from the blood-forming bone marrow cells), infectious mononucleosis;

Contrindications

During pregnancy, especially in the first trimester, prednisolone should be administered with an extreme caution.
